Free Eye Exams and Glasses for Stouffville’s Syrian Refugee Family
Dr. Ellaurie is a member of the Stouffville chapter of 100 Women Who Care and, in January, they chose to donate to Stouffville Cares. Stouffville Cares is a local organization that has been working on bringing refugee families to Stouffville since the fall. Dr. Ellaurie had a chance to speak to some of the members of Stouffville Cares at the meeting in January and she offered our services to help the Syrian refugee family that would soon be moving to Stouffville.
The Fandi family arrived last month and we were excited to meet them and offer free eye exams in addition to a free pair of glasses for one of the children. Translation was needed throughout the eye exams, so the exams took significantly longer than they normally would have for a family of six. A big thank you to two of our vendors for generously providing a free, high quality pair of glasses: Westgroupe provided the Superflex frame and Hoya provided the lenses.
We are happy to volunteer our services to those in need in our community.
