Frame of the Week: Burberry
These tortoise print women’s Burberry frames are this week’s frame of the week!
Burberry was founded by 21-year-old dressmaker Thomas Burberry in England in 1856 when he opened his first store in Basingstoke, England. Burberry soon made a name for itself in outerwear and a number of famous explorers, aviators, and winter athletes wore Burberry. Some explorers even used tents made by Burberry.
Burberry is known for its trench coats which were originally designed by Thomas Burberry for officers to use in World War I. After the war, trench coats became popular with civilians. In 1920, the iconic Burberry check was created and used as lining in their trench coats. Today, Burberry is known for its conservative style and sells clothing, accessories, eyewear, fragrances, and cosmetics.
